Advocare offers a free, state-wide education program, delivered by experienced staff who provide interactive education sessions to your organisation or community group.
Our education sessions aim to:
- Increase awareness about the rights of older people
- Increase awareness of residential aged and home care services
- Raise awareness of elder abuse
- Increase the capacity of people working in aged care, to protect and champion the rights of older people.
What to expect
Our education sessions are fully interactive and are delivered at your organisation or community group by our experienced staff.
We provide relevant resources and welcome questions throughout and at the end of each presentation.
If you have any specific issues you would like covered, we can tailor sessions to meet your needs. Video-conference sessions can be arranged for regional or remote groups.

Who is this for?
Home Care Services
Clients – We provide clients with information on how to address service concerns, their rights and responsibilities as a client, what elder abuse is, and how to prevent it.
Care givers – For caregivers who need to understand more about the aged care system, their role as a carer and what services can be accessed.
Residential Care
Residents – Residents and their families will hear about the rights and responsibilities of being a resident, understanding elder abuse, the process of raising concerns and the purpose of free and professional advocacy.
Elder Abuse Prevention
Community Groups – Groups will learn about human rights, elder abuse, what to do if abuse is experienced, witnessed or suspected, and preventative strategies.
Health and Allied Health Professionals – A comprehensive session that covers elder abuse recognition and response. Participants will be provided with the latest information and resources to assist them to prevent and address elder abuse.
