This week is Seniors Week in Western Australia – a chance for us all to celebrate the incredible contribution older people make to the WA community.
As part of Seniors Week 2020 Advocare will be attending ‘Have A Go Day’ – Perth’s premier annual event for over 55’s on Wednesday 11 November, in Burswood Park. Come along to chat to one of our experienced advocates who can provide free and confidential information, advocacy and education services to; help you navigate the aged care system; access the right supports for you; understand your rights; and provide information about elder abuse awareness and prevention. This will also be a great opportunity to enquire about our rewarding volunteer program, in which our dedicated team of volunteers visit older people receiving aged care services at home or in residential aged care facilities, who are lonely or socially isolated.
Also, as part of Seniors Week 2020, Advocare will be hosting a free morning tea in Fitzroy Crossing on Wednesday 11 November from 8:30am – 10am at the Karrayili Community Resource Centre where our Specialist Aged Care Navigator will be available to have a yarn about ageing in the community, what aged care services are available, and how to apply for services.
We will also providing a free Information Session at Halls Head Central Shopping Centre on Thursday 12 November from 10am – 1pm where our Specialist Aged Care Navigators will be providing free, information and support to older people who are having difficulty accessing aged care services, or who need help understanding what services they may be eligible to receive.
