A research team led by Perron Institute Research Professor in Palliative Care at the University of Western Australia and 2023 WA Australian of the Year, Professor Samar Aoun, is currently working with the WA Department of Health to better understand people’s experiences of end-of-life care services in Residential Aged Care Facilities and Nursing Homes across Western Australia.

If you looked after a family member or friend who died in a residential aged care facility or nursing home in WA between 2021–2024, your input is invaluable to this study. Please respond at the latest by 30 April 2024.

You are invited to complete the Aged Care Consumer Survey online by clicking here, which should only take approximately 30 minutes. More information about the research study and a printable version of the survey can be found by visiting

The survey includes questions about the end-of-life care they received in the residential aged care facility or nursing home and your thoughts on how services can be improved in the future.

The research team is hoping to hear from as many Western Australians as possible about their experiences, so if you have friends, neighbours and colleagues who would appreciate an opportunity to have their say, send this article to them via email or share it via Facebook.

If you have any questions or would like further information about the online survey, please email or call 08 6457 0222. Thank you for helping us to improve services and sharing the opportunity with your friends, family, and communities!
