Advocare is delighted to announce the appointment of Susan Barrera to the role of Board Chair.

Susan replaces Dr Helen Grzyb who was a board member and chair for over six years.

Helen brought a deep knowledge of the sector and a great passion to her leadership role. Helen’s contribution to the achievement of Advocare’s goals is greatly appreciated by the Board and members of the organisation. “I have been honoured to be part of Advocare and its important work advocating on behalf of older people across Western Australia.”

The Board officially welcomes Susan from 29 September 2023.

Susan is a highly experienced senior executive, director, and chair. Susan chairs the South Regional TAFE’s Governing Council, MyLeave (formerly the Construction Industry Portable Long Service Leave Board), and recently completed her term as Deputy Chair of the Mid West Ports Authority. Susan is a former Director General of Communities, Executive Director of Labour Relations, and has lectured on industrial relations at Murdoch University. She understands the challenges in the aged care sector and looks forward to supporting Advocare’s mission.

We warmly welcome Susan and wish her every success in this role.
