Advocare – your My Aged Care Agent

Main Content

If you or a loved one is in the process of exploring aged care services, it can be beneficial to have a support system in place to navigate the complexities of the system. Advocare, as a not-for-profit organisation based in WA, is committed to supporting the rights of older individuals in their interactions with My Aged Care.

Advocare as a helpful ‘Agent’

Our advocates are now registered as ‘Agents.’ This means you can appoint us to assist you with My Aged Care as a representative or agent. We can communicate with My Aged Care, assessors, and service providers on your behalf, assist you in decision-making processes, seek and update personal information held by My Aged Care as an agent, while offering professional support. Be assured we will never make decisions on your behalf without your permission – you lead the way.

How to nominate Advocare

Appointing Advocare as your agent is a straightforward process. You can call Advocare directly or call My Aged Care who will send a referral to Advocare on your behalf. Keep in mind it may take up to 10 business days for the referral to be accepted and to establish this representative relationship. If urgency is a concern, My Aged Care recommends you call them on 1800 200 422 to discuss.

You can change or cancel your representative or agent relationship at any time. If you already have a My Aged Care online account set up, navigate to the ‘Support Networks’ section, and make the necessary changes. It’s essential to note that changes must be facilitated by an authorised representative, to ensure a streamlined process.

Advocare is here to provide practical assistance and support as you navigate the aged care system, ensuring a smoother and more informed journey.

Free call us on 1800 655 566 if you have any more questions on Advocare becoming your My Aged Care agent.
